You Can't Get Any Good Help Anymore? What About a Disability Lawyer?

If you live in Massachusetts and you need help from a disability lawyer (or disability attorney or representative or advocate) to get social security/SSI disability benefits, I might be the disability lawyer - the advocate - for you.

Jonathan Abbott, Lawyer, Attorney & Advocate

I am a social security disability benefits advocate. I love my work because it helps real people. Consider these words:

“I feel that the greatest reward for doing is the opportunity to do more.” Dr. Jonas Salk, inventor of the polio vaccine.

There is only one of me. I have no secretary, so I do all of my own work. I listen to you and ask you questions. I find the information we need and put the case together. I fill out SSA's forms.

If you like this style and are willing to be a turtle, persistent and patience, we can win the race together.

Please go here for a description of things I may do to help you win your disability claim: What Would My Lawyer Do For Me?

Behold the turtle. He makes progress only when he sticks his neck out. James B. Conant (1893-1978)

How Do Attorneys Get Paid?

Just because a disability lawyer or attorney says that he won't charge you unless you win doesn't mean that the attorney is any good. For an explanation of attorneys' fees in social security disability and SSI cases, please see: How Attorneys Get Paid.

Here is the fine print: JUST BECAUSE I HAVE WON MANY CASES IN THE PAST IS NO GUARANTEE WE WILL WIN YOUR CASE. I do make a promise: I will try my hardest to win for you. I will be persistent.

Consider these words of President Calvin Coolidge:

Nothing in this world can
take the place of persistence.

Talent will not; nothing is more common
than unsuccessful people with talent.

Genius will not; unrewarded genius
is almost a proverb.

Education will not;
the world is full of educated derelicts.

Persistence and determination alone
are omnipotent.

- Calvin Coolidge (1872-1933)

If you live elsewhere, or my style doesn't appeal to you, below are some places to go to look for help with appplying for disability. [under construction]

I suggest that you look for a disability lawyer who does a lot of social security cases; maybe someone who does only social security work. Avoid attorneys who "dabbles" and do too many other types of law. Also, think long and hard before you hire someone who advertises on late night tv. Are you going to get help from that person for your whole case or from their flunkies?

If you need a disability attorney, a disability lawyer or law firm, or a disability advocate, choose thoughfully.
